I perform on a regular basis. I don’t always keep this calendar populated, but I’ll do my best. Come say hi in person!

Pete Ayers Quartet at Blue Strawberry

From Blue Strawberry’s website:

St. Louis native Pete Ayres performs in a wide range of styles and is generally regarded as a "crossover" artist with his musical roots firmly based in jazz. Ayres’ voice ranges from smooth and airy to raw and soulful, while his songwriting and performances cover a mix of jazz, pop, soul and R&B. Heavily influenced by jazz artists like Jamie Cullum, Kurt Elling and Nat King Cole, Ayres has developed a distinct singing/songwriting style, able to smoothly move from a ballad like “Georgia On My Mind” to a 90’s pop hit like “Wonderwall.” His jazz education and R&B influences shine through on “Till I See You” (2015), while his latest album “6 Years Ago” (2022) radiates gritty retro soul and funk.

Currently a New York City based musician, Ayres began with a BA in Vocal Jazz Performance from Webster University and has since performed at major music venues and festivals along the east coast, west coast and midwest, including Birdland Jazz Club, The Blue Note, Brooklyn Bowl, Bowery Ballroom, Tower Theater and the Hippodrome Theater, alongside pop artists like Gavin DeGraw, Mat Kearney and Plain White T’s. He has also performed with The Young New Yorkers’ Chorus on the popular NPR show “Radiolab” and at one of the most renowned venues in the world, Carnegie Hall.

Ayres’ latest album “6 Years Ago” includes the standout singles “I.O.U,” “Take Me Back” and “Troubling.” Ayres is set to release his first trio EP later this year (2023).

Steve Ewing Band at Kirkwood Performing Arts Center

From the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center website:

In the Strauss Black Box Theatre at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center

St. Louis-based musician Steve Ewing is best known as the golden voice behind the seven piece powerhouse The Urge.

The Urge was formed in high school in the late 1980's - an eclectic mix of reggae, hip hop, ska, and punk that sent a sonic shockwave through the Midwest music scene that can still be felt today.

After 4 independent label releases they were picked up by the Immortal/Epic label, home to such artists as Korn and Incubus, and released 3 albums of their own. Alternative radio stations everywhere were spinning “All Washed Up”, “Brainless”, “It’s Gettin’ Hectic”, “Straight to Hell”, “Four Letters and Two Words”, “Too Much Stereo”, and the top ten “Jump Right In” featuring Nick Hexum of 311 fame. Many St. Louis natives fondly remember The Urge from their intense, face-melting shows at venues such as Mississippi Nights and local festivals like PointFest. The Urge spent much of their time touring alongside aforementioned artists Korn, Incubus and 311.

Today, Steve Ewing continues to play actively with The Urge, the Steve Ewing Band, the Steve Ewing Duo and Master Blaster, and also owns and operates Steve's Hot Dogs - an iconic St. Louis restaurant that has been featured on the Food Network, Travel Channel, and Cooking Channel. Steve's Hot Dogs is the home of the Official Hot Dog of St. Louis.
