Jackson Stokes' Debut Album With Create Records
My friends and I have some exciting news! Jackson Stokes is releasing his first solo album. Better yet, it’s the first of what is sure to be an impressive catalog for Devon Allman’s Create Records label. This is big for both of them, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
I’ve worked with Devon for several years now, helping him lay down demo tracks from time to time for different projects. We ended up developing a perfect working chemistry. He works his ass off on the clock and is a damn sweetheart off the clock. I was flattered and excited when he asked me to engineer the remainder of a record he was producing for my friend, (Tyler) Jackson Stokes. Tyler and I have also known each other for years, playing in a band together and dreaming of starting a sandwich podcast.
They had a big start on the project, having recorded in other locations around the country. We then brought the project to Sawhorse Studios in St. Louis. We tracked a lot of vocals and guitars, but also some drums, slide, keys, bass, etc. It was a treat to watch these songs evolve, and to watch Devon and Tyler work together. Devon is a producer that definitely knows what the artist is capable of and won’t settle for less. Tyler rose to the occasion and I think it comes through in the tunes.
As we finished tracking, Devon asked me to mix a song. In the end, I wound up mixing the rest of the record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. Tyler is from St. Louis and wrote the songs here. Also, a ton of it was recorded here, it features a lot of STL musicians, and Devon’s label is based here. That’s not to say this isn’t a national release, but it has a lot of local fingerprints all over it.
