New Student!

I learn a lot about myself through teaching, and I’m especially inspired when I get a new student. I enjoy the challenge of discovering their strengths and weaknesses and piecing together how I can help the most. It’s like a puzzle, but the pieces are ones you have to find and understand in order to complete.

I taught a new student yesterday. He is a local musician in a band that’s doing pretty well. He has been playing bass for some time and has decent music theory knowledge. We’ll start by trying to clean up the technique and shore up holes in his knowledge. I can’t wait to see what he does with everything he learns and how he applies it to his projects.

I’ve been teaching bass and guitar lessons for almost 20 years, applying everything I’ve learned as a performer, composer, producer, teacher, and student. Some of my students have gone on to compose amazing music, tour, and even sign record deals. I used to teach at a local music store, but these days I prefer to teach out of my home studio where I can be selective and only take students that truly want to learn.

Contact me, whether you’re new to an instrument or want to find a new level for your playing. I teach bass, guitar, and music theory. I’m flexible with the frequency of the lessons and also do one-offs.

Chris Turnbaugh

I own an audio production company, called Low Muses Productions, LLC, that makes professional recorded music while also taking some of the tedious aspects of releasing music off of artists’ plates.

I also perform with The Gorge, The Steve Ewing Band, and many more in St. Louis, MO, and beyond.
